Theatre Clubs at Zürich International School (ZIS)

At Zürich International School, theatre is a space for children to explore who they are,
how they feel, and how they express themselves.

In a bilingual English–German environment, children are invited to play, imagine, move,
and create together in a supportive and pressure-free setting.

Kindergarten–Grade 2 | Tuesdays

A playful introduction to theatre through stories, movement, imagination, and creative expression.

Younger children explore theatre through games, movement, roles, emotions, music, and
guided dramatic play. There is no pressure to perform or memorise lines. The focus is on
self-expression, confidence, cooperation, and joyful discovery.

The Fall Season serves as a gentle introduction and trial period.
Children get to know the group, explore theatre basics through play, and build confidence
in a supportive environment.

After the Fall Season, children who continue commit to both the
Winter and Spring Seasons. During this longer project phase, the group
will develop a playful theatre journey through stories, characters, movement, and
imagination. Rather than working towards a traditional scripted play, the children will
prepare a small shared theatre moment for families, shaped around what the group has
explored together.

Day & Time: Tuesdays, 15:20–16:20
Group size: 8–15 children
Fee: CHF 25 per session

The Winter/Spring project ends with a small playful sharing moment for families.

Grades 3–5 | Mondays

Creative storytelling, teamwork, and performance through theatre and improvisation.

Children explore acting, storytelling, movement, voice, and improvisation while learning
to listen, react, cooperate, and express themselves with confidence on stage.

The Fall Season serves as an introduction and trial period, focusing on
theatre basics, group building, creativity, and stage confidence.

After the Fall Season, students who continue commit to both the
Winter and Spring Seasons. During this project phase, the group will
rehearse and perform a theatre piece for families. The exact play will be chosen later
according to the group, their interests, and what fits the children best.

Group size: 8–15 children
Fee: CHF 25 per session

The Winter/Spring project ends with a final theatre performance for families.

About me

I’m Julian Lehnhardt, an educator, ADHD coach, and theatre practitioner with over 15 years of experience working with children in Germany, Chile, Panama, and Switzerland.

My work combines the freedom of jeux dramatiques with selected elements of theatre pedagogy. I create spaces where children can explore their own ideas, emotions, and stories through play, movement, and creative interaction — without pressure or rigid expectations.
